A Fool’s Paradise
We live in a fool’s paradise
restraining intent and paradigm
Living by societal values
trivial, hollow and seldom sublime…
Alas, paucity rules our lives …
“Love needs touch”, we say.
We feign intellectualism and state:
Intimacy desires privacy
vows crave guarantees
bonds map the very air we breathe….
Then at a moment in the time
we get quizzical and mystified
about our own set of choices
and our own set of crimes….
Thinking how we have lived by….
Sometimes we wouldn’t even know
companions across the road
at times a stranger across the bridges
inhabits our heart and soul
A question beckons….
Who are we to sift and sieve;
fathom, chew and clarify
on who and what may come by
From deep somewhere,
a voice quietly asserts……
Don’t bind your love
don’t limit your reach
open your eyes and see
the world is your destiny.
Know thyself and thy heart
and draw your own maps and charts
Fantasies and realities…
Possibilities and our resistance……
real vs. fictional….
the ambit is thin…
reach out to them
and they merge within
Let the love take its course;
let it flow and enrich your life
and you would no longer feel
trapped in a fool’s paradise………
Don’t restrict , don’t quantify
and you may find….
Love across the bridges…
