#MeToo

#MeToo.

Pushed, touched,
slurred at,
cajoled, bribed,
leered at,
groped, abused,
felt up, down,
pinched, threatened,
stalked, pounced upon.

At 7, at 37.
As a child,
as a woman.
In a crowd, in Isolation.
By strange hands,
by familiar eyes.

Speak up. Vent out.
It was always ” Them”,
not ever, never us.
Being a woman is
not a vile curse,
neither a free access
pass, to violate,
satiate “their” lust.

I refuse –
to be tamed,
get violated,
change my core.
Yes, I faced
sexual assault, Yes,
I survived the fall.

It left
an indelible mark,
on my psyche,
made me mistrust
some but it could not
kill my spirit –
to survive,
to live,
to love,
to evolve.

#MeToo was a wake-up call to the world via social media, a tough accept the bitter reality of sexual assault that prevails within the social construct, much of it considered safe for young children and women, globally. More power to these empowered voices and showing solidarity, tell a story of survival, rising above it all.
